We’re a close-knit local team, with national reach. We bring together 250 years’ combined office supplies experience to deliver the level of customer service you’d expect from a dealer, with the strategic and logistical advantages of a contract stationer.
Our two founding directors both spent 10 years working for the UK’s largest corporate office supplies company. Working day in, day out, to proactively provide every office product and service to FTSE250 clients, with seamless account management, Steve and Mark perfected their craft. But as their knowledge of the industry grew, so too did their understanding of how to deliver an even better level of service to varied private sector firms throughout the UK, regardless of their size and turnover.
So Universal was born. The directors maintain a hands-on role in everyday operations, blending a faultless corporate philosophy with a friendly, personal approach that helps retain both clients and staff. Indeed working with a consistent commitment to the company ethos – from admin, through to sales, logistics and account management – keeps everyone happy, both within and beyond the business.

That’s why we proudly raise money every year for Macmillan Cancer Support. 1 in 3 of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, and two million people are living with it now. We recognise that Macmillan provides much-needed medical, practical, financial and emotional support to people whose lives have been affected by the disease, so we regularly hold corporate hospitality days and events to raise money for this worthy cause. 100% of our proceeds go to the charity – a pledge we’ll unswervingly uphold for years to come.
A progressive mindset
Our clients acknowledge that we’ve become an established business in a crowded marketplace, and to have retained customers since Universal’s journey began in 2002 is a testament to the quality of products and services that we’re committed to delivering. But we don’t ever rest on our laurels.
The business environment is constantly evolving and we appreciate our proactive diversity is paramount in supporting our clients – both large and small; in sectors ranging from commercial through to education in their daily challenges. So we must continually develop new solutions that will enable them to operate in a robust, efficient and profitable manner. In 2015 for instance, we introduced a full washroom solutions service, and comprehensive technological support for our ever-growing range of AV products.
